This activity is concerned with addition reactions of alkynes, their stereochemistry and their regiochemistry.
On completion of the module you should be above to draw the structure (including stereochemistry where relevant) of reaction of an a given alkyne with
- with excess hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst
- with equimolar amounts of hydrogen in the presence of a poisoned catalyst
- with metal/liquid ammonia
- with Br2 (both excess and 1 equivalent)
- with HX (both excess and 1 equivalent)
- with H2SO4(aq) in the present of HgSO4(aq)
