Titration procedure

   These diagrams show blue and yellow solutions.  This is to differentiate between the two reactants.

As in many cases both solutions are colourless, careful labelling of beakers is necessary.
1Using solution that has been transferred to a small beaker, rinse the burette, letting some solution run out through the tap.
Discard waste.
2Fill burette.
Open tap and run some solution through the tip.
Discard waste
3Using some of the other solution in a small beaker, rinse the pipette.
Discard waste.

 
The key to a titrimetric determination is knowing  the exact amount of substance in of one of the blue and yellow solutions. 

The solution for which this is known is called the standard solution. The standard solution may be used EITHER in the burette or in the titration flask.
 
 
4Fill pipette to above line using filler as in 3.
Replace the filler with your forefinger to stop flow of liquid.  Rotate pipette bulb slowly with other hand until liquid level drops to the line.
5Transfer liquid in the pipette to conical flask, touching the tip of the pipette to inside of the flask at the end.

Add a few drops of indicator to the analyte solution in the flask.
6Gradually add titrant from burette to analyte in flask.

Rinse down drops from side of flask using water from wash bottle.

Stop when color change observed.
