To edit an existing multichoice question page
- The top green row in the Page List form is for adding new question/review pages.
- The other rows show the ID of the content on each of the screen pages of the module.
- The type of page (question or review/information) is in the second column.
- The number in PSeq is the number of the screen page in the module.
- You may edit the page only if you own it.
- This form is in a new window called BasicQuestion. The page list in the BC Administration window will still be open.
- The text of the question is in the large box. The FORMAT link above the box goes to an editor.
- This editor is going to undergoing major revision in the next month. Currently it isn't attached to the BestChoice style sheet so data may not look here like it looks in the student version.
- To save modifications made in this formatting editor, Click on UPDATE FORM at the bottom of the editor and then click on SAVE for the form which displays.
- The answer ID's are in the left most column. The text of the answer is at the right (the relative positioning of these is going to be changed).
- The right answer has its check box ticked under right for MCQ.
- The feedback ID's are in the middle.
- To edit the answers or feedback click on Ed below the ID box.
- The formatting of the MCQ answers depends on whether random is checked and the number of columns entered on the Update BasicQuestion form.
- Get a feeling for the system by logging in to the student version of BestChoice.
- On choosing a Course from the dropdown, then a Topic (green links), then a Subtopic (white links).
- Look at the header on each page. The Subtopic name appears at the left. The number and type of the current page is given by a dropdown at the right. Flick through a few pages.
- Log in to the editor using IE as your browser (I discovered when talking to Scott that the Ed link used below doesn't work in Mozilla).
- Go to EDIT then PAGE LIST on the menu bar at the top.
- Choose the subtopic name from the dropdown list at the left in the editor form.
Show/Hide more detail about the form that appears. - Choose Ed from under the Question ID box for the question page that has PSeq equal to the page number in the student version.
Show/Hide more detail about the form that appears. - Your revised page can be viewed in BestChoice student version by using the page dropdown to flick to the next page and then back again. Alternatively, the View link at the end of each page's entry in the BC Administration window opens a third window showing BestChoice student version at the right page.
The instruction pages in this module can be displayed in a separate window for reference (or printed) by clicking
REVIEWS in the header on each BestChoice screen page.
The default on the Show/Hides in this window is Show. Click the links twice to hide the detail text. I hope that you will use the Comments link available at the top of every page to add comments.
