Learning objectives focus on developing problem-solving strategies

For problems involving reactions occurring in solution where the chemical equation is given and sufficient information is available to calculate the amount in moles of one reactant

  • to be able to construct a plan for calculating the unknown quantity from the known quantity.
This includes using symbols and identifying appropriate mathematical relationships.
The quantities may be concentrations, volumes or masses.

  • to be able to carry out the calculation.
This includes using good mathematical practice such as
    avoiding early rounding
reporting the final answer to the appropriate numbers of significant figures.
