All of the elements in Groups 1 and 2 are metals.
These elements are all solid at room temperature, They have a characteristic shiny appearance if they are protected from air.
Calcium metal from Wikipedia As the graphs show the Group 2 metals have much higher melting points and boiling points than the Group 1 elements.
The trend in the boiling points is an indication of stronger metallic bonding in the Group 2 metals than for Group 1.
This is in part due to having the larger number of valence electrons that are delocalised throughout the metal and contribute to the attractive forces between the atoms.
The Group 1 elements show a clear trend from higher to lower boiling going down the group. The same trend is seen for higher to lower melting points.
There is no such clear trend in either the boiling points or the melting points of the Group 2 metals.
